I love working with and motivating students in a one-on-one setting where each student has an individual plan. There is nothing more rewarding than watching students overcoming obstacles and make long-term changes in their lives.
My work in Flex is a daily disruption of the school-to-prison pipeline — is not just about recovering credits; it’s about recovering lives. We get kids back on track to graduate, which impacts their current situation as well as their future possibilities. Through Flex, I use my voice and my curricula as a co-conspirator for justice, to ensure equity, and as a change agent. Here, I’m able to be the change I want to see in the world.
